Picked this book up today from the 8-12 section of my local bookstore and burned my way through it. Dom't look at me like that, I'm no going to let being two decades outside its target demographic from enjoying a book.

Anyway, I picked up as I've had MoCT on my mind recently as I'm eagerly awaiting a print copy of Bigger Bads. The back of the book blurb intrigued me.

Kyle hasn't seen Mr Mumbles in years. And there's a good reason for that: Mr Mumbles doesn't exist.

But now Kyle's imaginary friend is back, and Kyle doesn't have time to worry about why. Only one thing matters from now on: staying alive.

I won't spoil the plot and the book leaves a lot unanswered (not surprising since its apparently the first of a planned six book series) but it does have an interesting take on what happens to invisible friends who get forgotten. It could make for a good alternative MoCT game where the monsters aren't the children's friends any more.
Heroes get shot, stabbed, bludgeoned, burned, incinerated, irradiated, poisoned, exposed to vacuum and thrown from great heights. Being a hero is a tough job.
