Monstrous Kids

Postby Tobias on Wed Jan 13, 2010 11:28 am

I was wondering if there were any suggestions on how to deal with any situation when they are so closely linked that they technically hold the same space as the kid. Maybe the kid turns into the monster (Hulk or Jekyll and Hyde style), maybe the kid and the monster rotate spatially so the monster takes the kids spot in reality, or maybe the kid's little sister stumbled into that "fake" dark ritual she was performing and is now the avatar of Tharug G'al, but only when he transforms her completely.

Any suggestions for any special benefits or drawbacks we might want to toss into that?

The Dreadful Secrets of Candlewick Manor and Curriculum of Conspiracy both contain things along these lines if you want to check them out.

Bigger Bads will expand and detail the rules from Candlewick.

Short version: If it's a monstrous kid, you can give him or her a special skill that represents the power, affiliate it with a particular stat (Hands, Feet, whatever), and add qualities and extras just like a monster.

Or just draw up the monster form with the usual rules and play it out as "Bruce Banner and Hulk" instead of "Calvin and Hobbes."
