Post your best game material on ArcDream.com!
- Sign up for an account. ALERT: When you register, it may tell you to check your email. Don’t bother; there won’t be an automated notification. I will fix that if I can figure it out, but otherwise just ignore it. Once you register you will be in the system as a Subscriber, able to comment on posts.
- Email Shane Ivey and ask to be made an Author at ArcDream.com so you can create new posts.
Then you can create your own posts and share your ideas and game resources right here on the official home of the One Roll Engine.
Our moderators will periodically review articles to make sure nobody is up to any shenanigans, but they will have a light touch. Our goal here is to make it easy for you, our fellow gamers — the most creative people in the world — to share your creations and inspirations with each other.
Do not post something if you don’t have the rights to it.
As a rule of thumb, this means only post material that you created yourself.
That goes for art and photography, too.
Don’t use it unless you own it or it’s explicitly in the public domain.
Be careful with links.
Only post links to other websites if they pertain directly and explicitly to our games. Spam, SEO farming, and “Click here for more from me” previews will get you blacklisted.
It has to be about Arc Dream games.
We want to hear what you’re doing with Godlike, Wild Talents, Monsters and Other Childish Things, Reign, The Kerberos Club, eCollapse, Progenitor, Grim War, This Favored Land, Better Angels and A Dirty World. (And over at The Unspeakable Oath and Delta Green we want to hear what you’re doing with those games, too.) If your idea doesn’t tie in directly with one of those games, it probably does not belong here.
Avoid multi-part projects.
Posting the first part of a project with a plan to post the rest later sounds good, but all too often real life interferes and makes it impossible to add more. Try to make your post useful and compelling all by itself. You can always expand on the subject in a later post.
Pick a category.
Be sure to pick a category from the list on the right side of each page — A Dirty World, Better Angels, Call of Cthulhu, etc. — to indicate which of our games you’re writing about. That will help people find your post later. Please do not choose Sales, Ransom or Preview as the category; those are only for official news from the publishers. Feel free to use Events if you are posting details about an event featuring one of our games.
There’s a certain art to tagging posts. Tags help users find groups of related posts. Add one with your name. Use a few others to highlight particular subjects or the names of settings or characters that are particularly crucial to your post. Do not use more than four tags in a post.
Add a featured image.
Click “Add a Featured Image” in the bottom right. Feel free to use any art that we have in the site’s Media Library. Or you can add your own art — but read those first two protocols about adding content only if you own it! Pick the art you want to use, click on “Use as Featured Image,” and then click “Insert Into Post.” Close the media selector. You’re set.
Don’t mess with sidebars or layout.
We want those to be consistent across the site.
Bring your “A” game!
Think your idea through carefully. Run it by friends. Get feedback from the Cult of ORE, the Arc Dream forums, or our many friends at RPG.net. Help us make ArcDream.com the best gaming resource it can be.
