Download the latest edition of the Wild Talents Character Calculator for Excel.
List of changes:
- Changed the layout some, moved the Miracle calculator to its own sheet (tab at the bottom)
- Added Edges/Flaws costs to Stats on the Miracle page (Select a stat instead of a Quality)
- Removed all Macros (VB) and made it compatible with OpenOffice and older Excels or newer Excels in a location where Macros are blocked.
- Replaced use of (Type) with lists that list the actual types.
- Created a Printout Page with Health Tracker for easier Game Use.
Upcoming Changes:
- Checkbox to turn “off” Hyper information and show only Base information.

I’ve updated it again, the new Printout Page is now part of the sheet.
Thanks for the update and the backwards compatibility with older spreadsheet versions. Any chance of incuding focii?
Thanks in advance
Foci and a better printout page will be in the next sheet. As well as some other treats for the game, and probably the Auto Character Generator will make an appearance too, though that may have to way for a yet future revision.
Looks great, Gryph, thanks! I modded my copy to include the points calculator across the top of the powers sheet. It’s basically a Paste: Transpose with ‘=Character!J2′ kinds of nonsense.
Thanks for doing all the heavy lifting!
Glad to oblige. Haven’t had a chance to work on the next update yet, but it will be forthcoming once time presents itself.
Next sheet has a similar change…
=concatenate(Character!J7;” (“;Character!J2;”)”);
Let’s you see: how much you’ve spent on powers (and how many points remaining in total)
Is there a place to put the base cost for a power on the Powers sheet? or does it always just assume 1 point? sorry if I’ve just missed it
It assumes 0 points actually. Powers don’t cost anything until you add a Quality to them, and then Edges/Flaws. If you want to add in a “base cost” as a house rule, you could add a Variable Effect, offset by multiple If/Thens for now, alternately, if you want, I can add in a GM Houserules Chart somewhere that will let you add a base cost to powers.
Been thinking of doing something like this anyhows, so that you could add in default stats (for GMs that want to make sure all players have at least 2d for example), and cost-free skills (such as your native language)…
Oh hey Gryph, I just thought of a suggestion. Would it be possible to add Booster multiples to the Edge lists? Whenever I use Booster, anyway, I’m buying 4 or 5 levels of it, so then I’m running out of room on the spreadsheet for flaws and other edges. What if we had Booster, Boosterx2, Boosterx3 etc in the drop down to save some room? Probably some of the other doodads could use something like that too, but at least for me, Booster is the only one I ever get more than 2 or 3 of.
Just a thought! Thanks for this terrific game aid.
Been thinking of doing something similar… either that, or an additional field that lets you add a value to an Edge/Flaw, or letting you choose “cont’d” in followup columns, so you could have 24 or 36 or more options, instead of just 12.
Oh yeah, a ‘Multiples’ column to the right of each set would be awesome! Saves on selecting the same thing over and over, and shows how many you took at a quick glance. Sure, it would apply to some stuff, but I imagine that just involves following the chargen rules. :p
‘Cont’ option is cool too, but could be a hassle if you decide to add it to your Attacks after you already filled in your Defends.
Ok, updated the sheet to allow ratings of Powers, as well as fix some apparent typos in the sheet that prevented the correct calculations of more than 2 powers…
Also put a cost tracker at the top of the Powers page. The auto-generator nor Foci pages are on this edition (I really only updated this link because I realized there were bad errors for the power calcs, and didn’t want people downloading a ‘bad’ sheet), those should be on the next release…
The link above redirected to the main site, but I changed a tiny detail in the url (“rev_04d” in WT_character_calculations_rev_04d.xls became “rev_04c.xls”) and it worked just fine. I think something happened…
My apologies, and thanks for pointing it out. I’ve fixed the link.
No worries! I’m about to set up a sheet for a WT game I’m joining and this caught my google search! Thanks for all your awesome work.
Hey Gryph, this may be more of a rules question than a bug note, but if I have a wiggle die in Body, do I not get that die in brawl? In the spreadsheet, if I buy a wiggle die in Brawl and I have a wiggle in Body, it shows me both of them in the Amount column for Brawl, but none if I don’t buy a Brawl wiggle. Is that just how the rules are supposed to work? Or is that a glitch? Thanks!
Ok, fixed the problem. Now it will show correctly (make sure you’re using the new copy, 4e). Link adjusted in the post, but you can also get it here: http://arcdream.com/home/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/WT_character_calculations_rev_04e.xls
Seems like a glitch, WD in Body do indeed stack with your brawl dice. Will release a version tomorrow that fixes that problem.
I’m trying to add power qualities to a hyper-attribute (in this case ‘no physics’ to hyperbody). How do I go about doing that? I see the attribute in the powers section, but it does not seem to calculate it correctly.
Unfortunately, there’s not a way to build it to work 100% correctly. Power Qualities on any attribute, in this calculator, assumes you want to have that quality with ALL your attribute dice. If you want to have it with only your hyper dice, a future release should have a check box that lets you decide that. However, you can, by the book, have a quality on just a single dice (well, better be at least a pair I suppose), it’s just that, to use that particular quality, you can only roll those dice… rolling more than that will lose you the ability to use that quality.
If I’m mistaken, and you’re saying that the calculations are wrong for the whole attribute, let me know and I’ll take a look-see at it.
Lemme back up. Im using excel 2007, and I cant get it to put power qualities on an attribute or skill via the powers menu. If I select Body (or any other att.) as a power quality, it fails to calculate anything Or am I missing the way to do it on the attributes menu?
Heya Snowblind, my sincere apology for the delayed response. The closer I get to year’s end, the less time I have for self. I took a look-see, and you’re right in that it’s broken, not user-error. I think I fixed it by changing a into a =, hopefully that didn’t break anything else… Don’t really have time to test til January. I’m uploading the latest version now, if you have time to test it, please do so and let me know how erroneous I remain.
Did base will get errata’d to be mind+command, instead of charm+command?
No, and if that is incorrect on the sheet, I will fix it once back from my holiday. Sorry for the inconvenience…
