Host Games & Win Rewards at Gen Con Online 2020

Gen Con 2020 made the eminently wise decision to switch to an online convention from July 30 to August 2, 2020.

Event submissions end July 20, 2020.

We invite you to host Arc Dream’s games in Gen Con Online! We seek GMs to run Delta Green, our Swords & Sorceries adventures for D&D, Godlike, Wild Talents, Better Angels, Monsters and Other Childish Things, Puppetland—any of our games.

Arc Dream’s Requirements

SEND US THE DATA TOO. After you submit your event data to Gen Con, please also add it to this form for our records. That will help us plan rewards.

ANY PLATFORM. Use Gen Con Online’s guidelines and recommendations for which platform to use for your game.

NEWCOMERS WELCOME. If this is your first time running a game for Arc Dream, we are thrilled to meet you. Please find our communities (Discord, Reddit, Facebook, Twitter) to compare notes with experienced GMs and get tips for running the best possible online game.

ANY SCENARIO. You are welcome to run a scenario we publish or one of your own design. As long as it’s for an Arc Dream Publishing game.

SHORT SCENARIOS. Online games always take longer to play than in-person games. A scenario that can be finished in four hours in person may take six or more hours online. Plan your games accordingly. And pace your game accordingly once it starts. After every hour take a moment to review how far the players have gotten. Skip scenes or tasks if necessary to get them to the end for a satisfying conclusion.

FOUR PLAYERS. Please limit your event to no more than four players. These are online games. Limiting the table size reduces cross-talk and confusion and frustration.

FOUR HOURS. Allow four hours to run the game. It’s OK to wrap up early. In fact you should plan to wrap up early. That gives you flexibility to handle the inevitable delays of online play.

30 MINUTES EARLY. Show up for every event that you host at least 30 minutes before its start time. That allows you time to help players work out technical problems such as trouble with audio, video, and web browser compatibility.

THE DELTA GREEN Q&A. We will host a conference call with the Delta Green writing team Saturday night, August 1, at 4:00 p.m. Eastern time. We will post an edit here if that time changes. Join us live or watch the video afterward.

Rewards

The more games you run, the greater the rewards.

ONE GAME: $10 worth of PDFs or $10 in credit at the Arc Dream online store.

TWO GAMES: $20 worth of PDFs or $20 in credit at the Arc Dream online store or a Club Apocalypse whiskey glass (while supplies last; one per volunteer) shipped inside the U.S.

THREE GAMES: $30 worth of PDFs or $30 in credit at the Arc Dream online store or a Club Apocalypse whiskey glass (while supplies last; one per volunteer) shipped outside the U.S.

FOUR GAMES: As with running three games and play in an online game run by a Delta Green author: Dennis Detwiller, Adam Scott Glancy, Chris Gunning, Shane Ivey, Greg Stolze, or John Scott Tynes. We will match volunteers with DG team members as schedules allow.

FIVE GAMES: As with running four games and get a March Technologies swag bag shipped anywhere in the world. The swag bag contains a vinyl document portfolio, a coffee mug, a mechanical pencil, a reusable shopping bag, and a convention badge lanyard, all branded with the most influential yet little-known tech holding company in America. Supplies limited. One swag bag per volunteer.

SIX OR MORE GAMES: As with running five games and get a personal gift from a Delta Green author. Will the gift have marketplace value? Will it be a prized game no longer played? Will it be a creative work inscribed in a frenzied hour of inspiration? Will it be taken up from a box of family belongings destined for a thrift store? Will it be related to gaming at all? Will it endanger the psyches of every sleeper within reach of its inaudible call? Which of us will even choose it and mail it? We’ll decide. Do you trust us?
